Book of Life
Every year, when we attend High Holiday services, we ask that our name be written in the Book of Life.
But what if you could write your own page?
What would you say?
And what if we told you that you had the opportunity to find out?
Now, this ancient tradition has become the inspiration for a new one: the Jewish Community Foundation’s Book of Life.
Through this special new project, you can transmit not just your funds, but your family history and legacy to the next generation.
How does the Book of Life work?
When you make your endowed gift, or endow an existing one to the Jewish Community Foundation or one of its community partners, you will be presented with a page to inscribe with your own thoughts and tell, in your own words, the meaning behind your gift.
Your page will then be joined with those written by others. These pages will be collected and placed into a crafted volume to be displayed in print, and electronically at the JCF’s headquarters.
Together, your story and others’ will tell future generations our story— the story of Colorado’s Jewish community at the dawn of a new millennium.
What is an “endowment”?
Usually, a gift that is given once helps once. But the principal of an endowment gift remains intact, generating interest that is given to help the community every year after that. Quite simply, through an endowment, giving once is like giving forever.
The Jewish Community Foundation offers several different kinds of endowments that can be tailored to fit your needs and those of your family.
No matter which one you choose, you will be able to tell everyone why you made your endowment when you inscribe your page in the Book of Life.
What do I do next?
Call Gena Adam at 303.316.6485 or email her at gadam@jcfcolorado.org to get started. We will help you make your gift go as far as possible to help the people who need it most. We will even help you write your Book of Life page.
